Refine Midwest

Refine Midwest's First Photography Workshop For Beginners

If you follow me on social media, there is a good chance you have seen a mention of Refine Midwest here and there. Well, our first ever workshop is a wrap and I cannot wait to share all of it’s success with you!

I collaborated with Natalie Norton of Noel Photos and Courtney Sinclair of Courtney Sinclair Photography to host a beginners workshop covering the basics of using your camera, finding the best lighting and tips on posing/working with a variety of clients.

Saturday turned out to be cold and rainy but it didn’t faze any of us. We ate a lot of snacks, laughed a lot and the girls did not shy away from asking a lot of great questions. Thanks to The Loft at Walnut Hill for allowing us to use their amazing and beautiful venue. We were able to utilize plenty of indoor and outdoor (when the rain let up) spots during our hands on portion of the workshop.

I just love all those shots of the girls shooting together. Courtney brought along a gorgeous model to give the girls a chance to put into practice what she taught them about lighting tricks. Then it was my turn to give some hands on learning. I posed the wonderful and beautiful Norton Family and gave our workshop goers an opportunity to shoot with me.

I enjoyed meeting and getting to know each of the workshop attendees. The giveaway from MP was won by Maddy Kemper. I paid half her ticket and I am so glad she won. Maddy was truly genuine in her excitement to be there. She had the most questions of the day and you could just tell she wanted to soak in as much as she could.

I also cannot go without giving a shout out to my hometown girl, Rebecca! She flew all the way from Tampa, FL to attend and I am so thrilled she was there to represent FL at Refine Midwest first ever workshop.

We had a vision of building this community of photographers and I know we did just that. I think it’s time to start planning Refine Midwest…round 2

Thank you so much Courtney and Natalie. You both truly inspire and encourage me in this amazing dream of a career.

XOXO, Natalie
